My phone has been ringing since Monday afternoon. Concerned friends, family, co-workers, etc.. have all shared their condolences and asked me the same few questions; "Are you OK?" "Did you have a class in Norris?" and "Did you know anyone who was hurt or killed?" The first two are simple, yes, I'm OK and yes I had 1 class in Norris (World History 1016) during my Sophmore year. The third question gets me every time. I graduated in May 2000 and probably never crossed paths with any of the victims. However, I did know them. We're Hokies so we're all family. I know where they spend their time, where they eat, where they cheer on their team, where they shop, and where they mourn. I know the drillfield and I know McBride 500. I know Macadoos and the Capri. We've all been to the same places and we all have Blacksburg imprinted on our hearts. Yes, I knew the victims because they are Hokies, because they are family.
